Ciudad Juarez: A city caught between Mexico, the United States, and the global economy

Ciudad Juarez is a Mexican city bordering the U.S city of El Paso, Texas. The case study of Ciudad Juarez highlights the consequences resulting from the area’s development of the manufacturing industry, subsequent shortsighted policies and their implications for future generations in the area. At present, Ciudad Juarez is suffering from acute problems of unemployment, poverty and insecurity.  The social and economic problems plaguing Ciudad Juarez are a consequence of policies too highly focused on economic growth and dependent on the manufacturing industries and a low-wage workforce. What makes the case of Ciudad Juarez special is its insertion into the global economy forum many years before wide-scale globalization.

Working on Dissertation on Economics I found out this interesting information.
